Paula Wharton

Inspired by dramatic skies, gentle landscapes and raging seas, Paula seeks to create oil and mixed media paintings that reflect Scotland’s natural world.

With backgrounds in the NHS and education, Paula has since discovered a passion for painting and works from her garden studio overlooking the Angus Glens.

Paula’s paintings are often the result of memories absorbed from her surroundings. She tries to capture the ever-changing moods, colours and movement of water from crashing waves to calm beaches and is fascinated by the interaction of sky-colour and light on the landscape. Working with a range of tools, she paints in many layers to build texture and interest.

Paula is influenced by some of the Scottish greats such as Joan Eardley and Victoria Crowe, as well as English landscape painter J. M. W. Turner.
